Where is Spain?
Look at the satellite photo. We can see Spain in the red boxes. Most of Spain is in the Iberian Peninsula in south-west Europe.
This peninsula is close to Africa.





Borders between Spain and other countries
North:France and Andorra.         
West: Portugal.
     South: U.K. (Gibraltar) and Morocco

Autonomous communities
Spain is divided into 17 autonomous communities. 
15 are on the Iberian Peninsula.The other two are the Balearic Islands and the Canary Islands. 
Spain has 2 Autonomous Cities close to Morocco, on the coast of North Africa: Ceuta and Melilla.

Provinces
Each autonomous community is divided into one or more provinces.

Municipalities
Inside the provinces there are villages, towns and cities.
Examples: 
- You live in Alcorcón (a town) that belongs to Madrid (a province) that belongs to the Autonomous Community of Madrid.
- Valmojado is a village that belongs to the province of Toledo and to the Autonomous Community of Castile La Mancha.
